This chip design workshop was a public welfare summer program initiated by LYG, which has been held for two consecutive years. The purpose of this program is to combine the development of the semiconductor industry with professional talent training, explore new mechanisms for semiconductor talent cultivation, and cultivate more outstanding professionals for the industry. After the launch of this year's summer workshop registration, it attracted hundreds of college students within a month, and 30 of them stood out. They came from 17 universities at home and abroad, including Shenzhen University, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Macau University, Shanghai University, Zhuhai Science and Technology College, and The University of New South Wales.
According to reports, the workshop courses are highly valuable and the lecturer team is composed of several industry "stars". The courses include professional courses such as the semiconductor industry and world trends, chip design and manufacturing processes, DSP (Design Service Platform) business scope and technology fields, common IoT (Internet of Things) wireless technology introduction, as well as commercial courses such as English speaking practice, professional English reading, communication skills, project bidding, etc. The lecturer team comes from senior professionals in Zhuhai, Taiwan, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Yantai, the United States and other places.
After a four-week study, the students gained a lot. "I learned about the current development status and trends of the industry, and gained a lot of professional knowledge." Li Zhi, from Heilongjiang University, is a junior in integrated circuit design and integration systems. He told reporters that after participating in the workshop, he adjusted his career plan and decided to continue studying for further education, laying a solid foundation for becoming an excellent chip design engineer.
Peng Shu wen, a prospective senior in accounting from Macau University of Science and Technology, participated in the workshop during the summer with aspirations for the integrated circuit industry. "Integrated circuits are one of Zhuhai's key industries, and this industry also requires professional accounting talents. I hope to work in related fields in Zhuhai after graduation." Peng Shu wen said.
The workshop also attracted the attention of Wen Feng, general manager of Zhuhai Science and Technology Venture Capital Co., Ltd. He believed that the integrated circuit industry is a strategic emerging industry that Zhuhai focuses on developing. This chip design workshop promotes the deep integration of industry, education and research in the field of chip design, injecting talent momentum into Zhuhai's efforts to accelerate the creation of an integrated circuit industrial ecology.

School-enterprise partnership to jointly build a chip design research and training base.
At this event, the LYG-Zhuhai Science and Technology College Chip Design Research and Training Base was officially unveiled. In order to strengthen industry-academic-research cooperation and explore a semiconductor professional talent training mechanism led by the government, enterprises, colleges, and benefiting the industry, LYG and Zhuhai Science and Technology College jointly established the chip design research and training base. According to the cooperation agreement, the two parties will cooperate in industry-academic-research internships and practices. LYG will accept research students from Zhuhai Science and Technology College, and the two parties will jointly carry out project development and production practices.
It is understood that LYG was established in Zhuhai in June 2020 based on Foxconn's chip design service team. It focuses on providing the demand for system chips within Foxconn Group. The company provides complete chip design services, IP intellectual property development, wafer manufacturing outsourcing management, and a complete solution from system module design to channel sales, striving to become a first-class domestic chip design and service company.

The person in charge of LYG said that LYG will actively fulfill its social responsibility and hopes to use the company's professional technology advantages and abundant resources upstream and downstream of the industry to build a bridge between university education and industrial development, jointly build a good ecological environment for talent cultivation, and provide more high-quality talents for the industry.
The School of Electronic Information Engineering of Zhuhai Science and Technology College has four majors: Electronic Information Science and Technology, Microelectronics Science and Engineering, Communications Engineering, and Automation. Among them, the Microelectronics Science and Engineering major is one of the only six undergraduate microelectronics majors in Guangdong Province, and it is also the only undergraduate microelectronics major in local universities in Zhuhai. Pan Xinxin, assistant dean of Zhuhai Science and Technology College, said that the establishment of the chip design research and training base with Lingyange this time will help integrate the enterprise's cutting-edge technology advantages and team backbone into the teaching resources, and build a high-quality curriculum system that closely follows the first-line industrial standards.
According to the "China Integrated Circuit Industry Talent White Paper", by the end of 2019, the number of people directly engaged in the integrated circuit industry in China was around 511,900. According to forecasts, by around 2022, the talent demand of the entire semiconductor industry in China will reach 744,500, including 270,400 in chip design industry, 264,300 in chip manufacturing industry and 209,800 in packaging and testing industry.
"There is a large peple resources gap and high employment threshold in the semiconductor industry. The establishment of a chip design and research base is a highlight of combining theory with practice and integrating production and education." The relevant person in charge of the Municipal Science and Technology Innovation Bureau said that he hoped more chip companies and universities would jointly build a platform for production, learning and research, improve the efficiency of production, learning and research integration and innovation, accelerate the speed of achievement transformation, and continue to cultivate semiconductor professionals for the industry and improve the construction of industrial ecology.
