The joint laboratory of Zhuhai University of Science and Technology - Lingyange Semiconductor Inc. was unveiled and established.

On February 8, the joint laboratory established by Zhuhai University of Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as Zhuhai Research Institute) and Lingyange Semiconductor Inc. (hereinafter referred to as LYG) was officially launched in Hengqin Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone. The joint laboratory will jointly promote the construction of biomedical engineering applications and smart city application platforms, and promote the sustainable development of digital health and smart city industries in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Zhang Ge, deputy director of the Economic Development Bureau of Hengqin Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone, affirmed the series of production, education and research achievements recently made by Zhuhai Research Institute, and briefly introduced the highlights of the special Policies for Macao's benefit, industrial support policies and talent policies that will be introduced in succession this year. Zhuhai Research Institute, relying on the National Key Laboratory of Smart City Internet of Things and the research strength of Macau University's dominant disciplines, has established five R&D centers, which have been committed to promoting the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, boosting scientific and technological development and industrial upgrading, and continuously adding impetus to the development of Hengqin Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone. Professor Wei Mengyu, Biomedical Engineering Laboratory of Macau University, said that through the joint efforts of the institute and enterprises, the establishment of a joint laboratory between the two sides will not only create a multi-sensor fusion intelligent medical solution for the health Internet of Things, but also promote talent exchanges and technology exchanges between the two sides, and train more compound scientific research personnel.

LYG Executive Director Albert Li said that the establishment of a joint laboratory with Zhuhai Research Institute had been planned as early as 2022. After preliminary discussions and preparations, it was finally realized today, which could not be achieved without the attention and support of relevant departments of Hengqin Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone, Macau University, Zhuhai Research Institute and other aspects.

Albert Li pointed out that in the industrial ecology of LYG, there are abundant resources of semiconductor industry chain and customer resources. After helping customers realize the landing of products, they also shoulder the mission of helping customers achieve or improve value at the application end. The establishment of the joint laboratory allows everyone to explore the industrialization prospects of advanced chip products in two key fields of frontier biomedicine and smart city, while enhancing talent and technology exchanges among all parties to achieve multi-win cooperation.

The joint laboratory will utilize LYG's rich platform of chip industry chain resources and combine with Zhuhai Research Institute's research and development strength to jointly build a digital health application research platform, a smart city application research platform, a chip design service support platform, and an engineering talent cultivation platform. The laboratory will carry out forward-looking layout for biomedicine and smart city applications, and further empower the local semiconductor industry chain ecosystem through in-depth cooperation between industry, academia, and research.

The Regulations state that it supports the cooperation zone in accelerating the development of digital economy, intelligent medical care, intelligent driving and other fields; supports the development of integrated circuits, electronic components, new materials, new energy sources, big data, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, and biomedical industries in the cooperation zone. This collaboration between Zhuhai Research Institute and LYG to establish a joint laboratory and promote the construction of biomedical engineering application and smart city application platforms responds to the spirit of the Regulations and fulfills its requirements.
